Interesting Events
There is so much to do in the direct surroundings of Amsterdam and Keukenhof. Have a look at some interesting events during spring season or during opening weekend of Keukenhof.
New exhibition Van Gogh & Japan in the Van Gogh Museum
From 23 march – 24 june 2018 you can see the paintings of Van Gogh he made when he was inspired by Japan. He has never visited Japan but he studied Japanese prints and incorporated these techniques in his own work. This exhibition includes the selfportret of Van Gogh with his ear covered in bandages. This painting hasn’t been on display in the Netherlands since 1930! So it will be a very unique and popular exhibition. Make sure you buy your skip the line tickets in advance as the waiting line can be long!
Spring Fair March 2018 – 23 and 24th of March

About 20 historical and modern towers in Amsterdam open their doors for you on the 24th of March! The towers participating in the Open Tower Day can be visited free of charge from 10:00 to 16:00. It gives you an unique perspective at the lovely city of Amsterdam. You need to register at the website in advance.
Pick your own bunch of tulips
As this week is too cold for tulips outside you can pick your tulips in the greenhouse of Annemieke’s garden and later in season also outside. From Monday to Saturday 9am – 4pm you can pick your own bunch of tulips at this lovely place. Address: Annemieke’s Pluktuin, Haarlemmerstraat 15a, 2182 HA Hillegom. (Free entrance – you pay for your tulips). This location is 25 mins. by bike from Keukenhof or slightly less by car. (Bus 50 between Keukenhof and Haarlem v.v. has a busstop next to the garden. Busstop: Bethlehemlaan – every 15 mins. a bus in either direction.
Fairytale festival at Keukenhof
During the spring season on every Wednesday afternoon fairytales come to life at Keukenhof. At the forest near the windmill (Molenbos) fairytale figures bring the forest alive. Tulip elves will flutter and the inhabitant of the forest explain life at Keukenhof. Can you find them all? Buy your Keukenhof ticket or tour in our ticket and tour shop.
