Flower update – week 13

After a beautiful Sunny Saturday we got a very rainy and stormy Easter Weekend. The people who have attend the periscope broadcasting know this already … the tulips in the Willem Alexander Pavilion are in bloom!

Tulip Carré – Royal Theatre Carré has its own tulip

Tulip Carré – The royal theatre Carré, situated in the city center of Amsterdam has his own tulip Carré -since last March! The director of the theatre, Madeleine van der Zwaan and the American cast of the Broadway musical hit PIPPIN baptized their tulip two weeks ago in Amsterdam.

Flower update – week 12

The daffodils are in bloom in the fields and I expect to see them as well in bloom at Keukenhof. There is still no sign of blooming hyacinths; these flowers are next in line to bloom and help to predict if we have an early or regular springtime.

More tulip fields in the Netherlands

Recent research shows that there are more tulip fields in the Netherlands. Flower bulbs are grown in more places in the Netherlands. The province of North Holland still takes the lion’s share of the bulb on his behalf, but the flower sector now spreads across the country.

Second Tulip Route Dronten

Following a successful event in 2015, the preparations for the Tulip Route Dronten 2016 are well on their way to make sure the tulip route for this year is of a significantly higher quality. The number of tulip fields included in the route has been increased to over 85 fields this year. And the number of activities en-route has also been increased.

Flower update – Week 11

The area is getting ready for all the visitors in the next weeks. From the outside you can see that the bike rental is placed at the new parking lot at Keukenhof. And the bulb sellers are setting up their shops along the roads.

Visit the Greenhouses (Kom in de Kas)

Then it’s time to get acquainted with the Dutch glasshouse construction. This fascinating sector opens on Saturday 2nd and Sunday, April 3rd, 2016 its doors of the greenhouses. Visit the Greenhouses is the name of this annual event in which more than two-hundred hospitable vegetable, flower and plant growers participate.

Flower update – Week 10

The past week the weather turned a bit colder than before. We have freezing temperatures at night and during the daytime we have sometimes some sunshine.

The Golden Age – Keukenhof Theme 2016

The Keukenhof theme for 2016 is “The Golden Age”. The era in which the Netherlands went through a flourishing period in the field of trade, arts and sciences. This was also the period in which the world was discovered and the tulip trade thrived.
