National Tulip Day 2016
Just a little reminder that the National Tulip Day 2016 is held in Amsterdam this Saturday, the 16th of January.
From early in the morning the volunteers are setting up the pop up garden at the Dam Square in the city centre of Amsterdam. Around 12.30 p.m. a lovely tulip with the name Tulipa Spinoza is baptized by minister Bert Koenders and deputy mayor Kajsa Ollongren.
After a short speech the pop up tulip garden will be open around 1 p.m. Visitors can pick up to 20 tulips for free and based on previous years the tulip garden will be empty around 4 p.m.
Keep in mind that you have to be early, if you want to enter the pop up tulip garden. Last year the first people got in line before 10 a.m. in the morning. Around midday a long line was formed around the square. The theme for 2016 will be Europe. Entree to the pop up garden is free.
