When are the tulips in bloom in 2017?
Every year this is the most frequently asked question is: when are the tulips in bloom in 2017? Will the tulips bloom on the days you travel to see them. It is a difficult question because every year the tulips will be in bloom on a different moment. It all depends on the temperature and rain during winter and springtime.
A cold winter and springtime can cause a later blooming and warm weather cause the tulips to bloom earlier. To give the difference: beginning of April 2014 all the tulip fields were in bloom due to a warm winter and springtime. A year earlier in 2013 we had the tulips in the fields at the first week of May 2013. A difference of 4 weeks and that is a lot. Tulips are generally in bloom for three-week window. During spring 2015 we had a regular spring time with the blooming starting around mid april until the first week of May. And in 2016 we had a regular spring at first but the weather turned very cold during April.
Based on the last 10 years, the best time for visiting the tulip fields is the last 2 weeks of April. See here for all travel tips to the tulip fields.
Will 2017 be a early, normal or late springtime is hard to say. From the beginning of March we will have the weekly flower updates to provide you information about the blooming status of the spring flowers. The blooming normally starts with the crocus at the beginning of March, followed by the bright yellow of the Daffodils. Later on the hyacinths get in bloom and at last the tulips. It is a lovely sight to see and many people have seeing the fields full with flowers on their bucket list.

The tulips in the fields will be gone. Have a look at the weekly flower update to see if there are still tulips left in Keukenhof around that time (it all depends on the weather and temperature in the upcoming weeks)
Will the tulips be in bloom during the Easter weekend or is it still only the early tulips?
The regular tulips are starting to bloom now, easter weekend will be colorful. (visit early in the morning – Easter weekend is a very busy weekend)
I’m in a decision to go there on Thursday or Friday, up to the rain forecast.

Hi Alica, it all depends on the weather and temperature in the upcoming weeks. I think the tulips in the fields will be (almost) gone. And still some tulips left at Keukenhof. Keep an eye to our weekly newsletter the week before you travel.

Sorry Paul, all the tulips in the fields are gone by two weeks already. The end of May is a time without flowers in the fields. Too late for spring flowers and too early for summer flowers. You can visit the flower auction or a museum with a flower theme if you want a day out with flowers. Wishing you a beautiful time in the Netherlands

Tulips are generally in bloom by the second half of april and first week of May. The end of March is the very beginning of spring time. You can enjoy the lovely indoor tulip festival at Keukenhof around that time and see the daffodils (and maybe some hyacinths) in bloom at the flower fields.
