Current status of the flower fields
As described in our newsletter of this week, the daffodils are in bloom! We have added a new 360 camera to our camera bag last week. We still need a bit of tweaking, but we managed to take some first photos of the daffodil fields in 360 degrees.
When you watch these photos on a phone or tablet make sure you rotate yourself (yes turn around 🙂 ) with your device and move up and down while turing. Use an office chair is perfect too. For the people with a desktop or laptop you can scroll around with your mouse or trackpad.
We are pretty excited to see your reactions in the comments below! If you have a great idea what to see in 360 degrees in the upcoming weeks, let us know!
360 photos
This photo was made at the fields of the Tulperij in Voorhout:
And below a perfect use of the sunroof of my car, don’t you think? 😉 Have you seen the massive rainstorm in the back?
And this fields is almost next to Keukenhof. You will see this field on the right side of the road while driving from Amsterdam to Keukenhof.
360 videos
We also have 360 videos for you, imagine standing in a flower field, hear the birds chirp and the wind blow and see the clouds moving. I haven’t found an easy way to share our 360 videos. (we are still learning) Please click below and it will take you to the youtube app when you are on a mobile device. Look around just like the photos above and you will see 360 video’s in a landscape mode. I am sure we will find a 360 video player for desktop soon!
On the road (see the rain storm in the back)
And this one close to Keukenhof – a note to myself to keep the camera leveled at all times. (sorry)
Please leave your reactions to these photos and videos below and what do you want to see in the next few weeks in 360 degrees? Let us know!

Wonderful idea! I’ve enjoyed the fotos, thank you so much!! Though there were some problems with web site download. Didn’t get the idea behind 360 video… ?
please, tell us about the spring!! This march in Russia is extremely warm, so I worry about the Netherlands as we are coming in the 2nd half of April
Please post more fotos of flower field! ??My mum ask me for them every other day?
Will do. Enjoy your time at the end of april. Perfect time for visiting spring in Holland
Thanks for the current status update! Based on weather in Amsterdam up until now, it is reasonable to assume that it will be regular spring?
My expectations are that the majority of the tulip fields will bloom around the second half of april (like in a regular year) but this can change as the weather is constantly changing.
Thanks for doing this Nienke. I need to book my trip a bit in advance, was going to go for mid-april, do you think it will be a good time to photograph the tulip fields?
Hi Jerome, based on the current status of the fields I expect the majority of the tulip fields at around the last two weeks of april. Mid april you will see the early tulips in bloom. Keep an eye to our newsletter for more up to date weekly information.
Very nice videos, Nienke! Yes some tweaking needed in getting the focus quickly since videos are short. However, it gave a clear idea of what it is like there now. I thought such rain clouds were common only in the tropical/equatorial belt.
Got 2 ques. – 1. what is this place called? 2. what is the name of the hotel across the road from daffodil field in video 2? Would love to be there in a room facing the fields.
Thanks for the videos and keep them coming.
1. the road between the fields (with the rainclouds) is the torenlaan in Voorhout. Just a regular road where you can drive (or bike) on. 2. the hotel across the fields is this hotel http://www.booking.com/hotel/nl/gtnachtegaal.html?aid=865869&no_rooms=1&group_adults=1
It is fun to see the 360 photos on my phone. Thank you for providing us extra information and fun from Netherland. Look forward to some more of them with tulips in Kuekenhof and field 🙂
By the way, would you consider this year is early/late/regular spring?
My expectations are that we are heading for a regular springtime (but all can change – it is nature) 🙂
While it is very beautiful being at eye-level with a freshly bloomed daffodil. I think it might be more interesting to be raised above them by 6-12″ to get a better perspective of how vast the field is.
We will be coming to Netherlands in 2 weeks…please get those tulips blooming!!! 🙂
Noted! Thank you for your feedback and enjoy your time in the Netherlands!
Thank you for your update! We are coming to Keukenhof by next week. Is there any chance for seeing colorful flower fields if we cycling? Thanks.
You sure will see colorful flower fields. The daffodils are blooming and the hyacinths are starting now. Even heard a field of early early tulips is about to bloom so you will have a wonderful time. Perfect for cycling along the fields. Wishing you a lot of fun!
Thank you Nienke ?
You’re welcome! 🙂
Hi Nienke,
This website contains wealth of information, your time is greatly appreciated. Giving the current spring weather like, how long the daffodils and hyacinths field are in bloom?
All I look forward each Tuesday is your email update :-). Still 4 more updates until we actually arrive in Lisse, can’t wait.
The blooming of the spring flowers depends a lot on the weather. And we can have four seasons in one day. Generally we can see daffodils until mid april and the hyacinths slightly (+1 week) longer. Luckiliy the tulips will take over at that point so we have a lot of flowers in the fields in bloom until the beginning of May. Thank you for you kind words!
Hi thanks for the useful information. We are going there in the first week of May. Will there be tulips in the tulip field around 4th and 5th May this year? Thanks in advance.
During a regular year the tulip fields will be headed during the first week of May. We have an early springtime so these fields might be headed. It all depends on the weather and temperature in the upcoming weeks
Hello Nienke!
Many thanks for your very nice and helpful page :).
I will arrive in Netherlands on 12-15 May. I’m losing hope that it will be the right time to see the flowers miracle. Based on their situation now, could you give an advice if I should come or postpone the visit for next year?
Greetings,
Irisi
12-15 of May is in every year towards the end of Spring time. When you have the possibility to travel next year during the last two weeks of April you have the chance to see much more flowers. The flower fields will be gone by the first week of May.
Thank you for your answer. The fields may be gone, but what about Keukenhof? Will it still be colourful in those days?
Thank you for sharing!
