Some times we come across a lovely new app for tulip lovers. The new Tulip festival in Dronten has developed several routes along the flower fields and made a wonderful app based on GPS position where you can hear interesting information along the route.
After a beautiful Sunny Saturday we got a very rainy and stormy Easter Weekend. The people who have attend the periscope broadcasting know this already … the tulips in the Willem Alexander Pavilion are in bloom!
The daffodils are in bloom in the fields and I expect to see them as well in bloom at Keukenhof. There is still no sign of blooming hyacinths; these flowers are next in line to bloom and help to predict if we have an early or regular springtime.
Following a successful event in 2015, the preparations for the Tulip Route Dronten 2016 are well on their way to make sure the tulip route for this year is of a significantly higher quality. The number of tulip fields included in the route has been increased to over 85 fields this year. And the number of activities en-route has also been increased.
The area is getting ready for all the visitors in the next weeks. From the outside you can see that the bike rental is placed at the new parking lot at Keukenhof. And the bulb sellers are setting up their shops along the roads.
We are happy to announce that we have added new tickets to our list! Since this week the tickets with public transportation and the tours to Keukenhof with a visit to a bulb farm are available at our site. Have a look to the full range of tickets and tours.
The past week the weather turned a bit colder than before. We have freezing temperatures at night and during the daytime we have sometimes some sunshine.
The Keukenhof theme for 2016 is “The Golden Age”. The era in which the Netherlands went through a flourishing period in the field of trade, arts and sciences. This was also the period in which the world was discovered and the tulip trade thrived.
Every year many tourists visit the Keukenhof to see all kinds of tulips. But wouldn’t it be a great idea to see the tulips in the city of Amsterdam as well? Landscape architect Saskia Albrecht decided after visiting the Tulip Festival in Istanbul to organize a tulip festival in the city of Amsterdam.
