[custom_frame_left shadow=”off”][/custom_frame_left]This weekend was parade weekend. After seeing the parade for many years I skipped this year. Online you can find many photo’s of it – see this link for short photo impression: www.nufoto.nl/onderwerpen/bloemencorso/
From 11 AM the main route to the Keukenhof (exit A4 highway) was blocked by the police due to all the traffic jams. A lot of cars and busses had to take a detour to arrive at the Keukenhof. I hope everybody made it in time to see the parade. Luckily the weather was nice as well. After rain in the morning the sun was shining in the afternoon.
This morning (sunday) I took the bike for a ride through the flower fields. The weather was gorgeous again. Lots of sunshine, blue sky and and big clouds. There was a big wind so the temperature wasn’t getting that high. The daffodil fields are almost gone. I found some fields with hyacinths but they are over their peak. I expect them to be gone at the end of next week. Luckily there are plenty of tulip fields in lots of different colors left. From different shades of red, to pink to multi color! 🙂

A quick look at the entrance of the Keukenhof Castle learned me that the park around the castle doesn’t have free entrance anymore. For the castle garden and art park the entrance fee is 4 euro’s (adults) and 2 euro’s (children – 12 yrs) And a tour in the castle is 7,50 euro’s. I decided to go to Keukenhof instead. Keukenhof had one of its busiest weekends and it was very busy. Not as crowded as last year during Parade day but still crowded.
I took a quick look in the park just to see the status of the flowers. Tulips everywhere! One part of the indoor tulip exhibition is over (tulips are headed) but the other part is still nice to see (but over its peak), Outside there are plenty of tulips and more to come in the next weeks. Outside you can still see a lot of hyacinths and daffodils. It looks that they are planted a bit later than the hyacinths and daffodils in the fields.
What to expect next week…. Tulips, tulips, tulips! The Keukenhof looks very nice and with the weather forecast (rain and a bit cold, bring your rain jacket or umbrella) the flowers can stay fresh. Next weekend will be a busy weekend as well. The Dutch people will have a long weekend due to Queens day on Monday. So if you are planning to travel to Keukenhof be there early to enjoy the park.
Hope to see you soon at Keukenhof!
