Bloemencorso 2015
We warmly welcome you for the 68th edition of the Bloemencorso van de Bollenstreek (Flower Parade). The bulb-growing area is a unique part of the Netherlands. This district is situated in the urban agglomeration of Western Holland, between the cities of Haarlem and Leiden, only 20 km. from Amsterdam. Characteristic of this area are the beautiful North Sea beaches and its hinterland filled with historical bulb-growing cultivation. This hinterland in particular is what makes the bulb-growing area so special. The explosion of colours of tulips, daffodils and hyacinths during springtime attracts millions of visitors from both home and abroad. All these spectacular flowers, the tulips, hyacinths and daffodils are processed for decoration in floats and luxury cars and will pass through the bulb-growing area for the 68th time on the 24th and 25th of April 2015, showing the Dutch flower-bulb cultivation in all its glory. On April 26th 2015 all floats can be admired at the market square in Haarlem.
Theme 200 years Kingdom
This year 15 big float cars and around 30 luxury and promotion cars take part of the Bloemencorso van de Bollenstreek. The theme is 200 jaar Koninkrijk (200 years Kingdom). The Kingdom of the Netherlands is 200 years old. Celebrations marking the bicentenary will be held from 2013 to 2015. This is a great opportunity to take stock of our shared past, present and future. From November 2013 to September 2015 the National Committee for the Bicentenary of the Kingdom will be arranging events and festivities that involve as many people and organisations as possible. More information about this subject could be find at this site. The Bloemencorso van de Bollenstreek does share this national celebration this year.
