Extra information for everyone traveling to Keukenhof on April 11 and 12
Are you traveling to the Keukenhof by train this weekend? The Dutch Railways have announced that they are taking care of maintenance on the tracks between Amsterdam Sloterdijk / Zuid and Schiphol Airport (see this link) Therefore there are no trains between Amsterdam to Schiphol on the 11th and 12th of April. The Dutch Railways are arranging busses but those tend to be not as fast as the train and it is an extra inconvenience to change from train to bus.
For everyone traveling this weekend these are the alternatives:
1. Travel from Amsterdam to Haarlem by train. Buy your combi ticket (Express bus and entrance) and at the AKO bookshop at the station Haarlem. Take bus 850 and bus 50, transfer in Lisse, ask the driver to tell you where to get out. See the timetable here. Travel the same way back if you want to end up in Amsterdam (not via Schiphol).
2. Take the train from Amsterdam to Leiden via Haarlem. You will have a bonus to see the flower fields from the train! Buy your combi ticket (expressbus and entrance) and at the AKO bookshop at the station Leiden. See the timetable here. Travel the same way back if you want to end up in Amsterdam (not via Schiphol).
3. Or plan to travel to Keukenhof on another day. On Friday and Monday the trains are operating normally.
Have a wonderful time visiting the Keukenhof this weekend!
