Train from Amsterdam to Haarlem
Haarlem is the closest city next to Amsterdam and it can easily be reached by train. During daytime there is a train from Amsterdam to Haarlem every ten minutes. And it takes somewhere between the 15 – 20 min. to reach Haarlem from Amsterdam Centraal. It is a popular commuter route for the people working in Amsterdam and living in Haarlem. There are both InterCity and Sprinter trains hence the difference in time.
The rail service on this route is operated by the NS the Dutch railways company. And you arrive within walking distance of the beautiful city center of Haarlem. Before wandering of make sure you have a good look on the Haarlem train station, one of the oldest train stations of the Netherlands. The train station is also the public transportation hub for busses to the nearby cities incl. a busservice back to the airport.
A second class single ticket from Amsterdam to Haarlem is 4,10 euros when you have a OV Chipkaart. When you want to buy a paper ticket there is a surcharge of 50 cents. There is no need to reserve your ticket before our trip. These tickets never sell out and the price is the same throughout the year. You can buy your tickets at the train station before you leave.
