Flower update – Week 10
The past week the weather turned a bit colder than before. We have freezing temperatures at night and during the daytime we have sometimes some sunshine. Most of the time the weather looks a bit grey. In the previous reports we mentioned that we are expecting an early to regular springtime with the first tulip fields in bloom around the second week or mid April. This week this expectation is still the same. Keep in mind that the actual blooming will depend on the weather and temperature in the next few weeks. Unfortunately we can’t influence that.
In the last week we have see some new daffodil fields getting into bloom. This amount will increase as soon we have warmer weather and more sunshine. At this point there are no hyacinths or tulips in bloom in the fields. They are still in the ground getting ready to bloom. We do might see some crocus fields in the next few weeks.
Hi Nienke,
We are planing to visit Keukenholf on the week of 13th or the week of 19th. Which week is more suggested according to your experience? Thanks!!
In one week there is not much difference in the blooming of the flowers. Based on the current weather and temperature I expect to see the first tulip fields in bloom around the second week of april. So based on this the 19th might be a bit better to see more fields in bloom. (but this is an expectation, if the weather gets warmer soon this could be earlier or colder than it will be later. )
Thanks for your answer. It rains cats and dogs today in Paris. We will finally arrive in Amsterdam on the 23th april. Hope the weather will be wonderful at that moment.
Hello Nienke,
I take it from the information posted in the updates, that this week would be much too early to see the tulips. Please advise! Thank you
Hi Nienke,
I’m now at the amsterdam and I’m planning to visit the garden on 25 of March. Could you please tell me will be there enough blossom flower fields to watch or should I cancel the visit and hang around amsterdam?
Thanks..!
Hello,
How is the state of Blooming ? We are expecting to come around 3rd of april ? Is it to early ?
Thanks and regards
Francois
The first early tulip fields are in bloom around the Keukenhof (especially at the windmill area) It is not too early 🙂
Hi, this blog says that it will have weekly updates but the last post is done in the 8th March. Did I miss a link? As today is the 28th March and the weather is still rather cold, do you expect a late bloom?
Thanks,
KippyAmma
We are very busy with photographing the flowers outside and sending newsletters to our subscribers. The website is a bit behind. The daffodils and hyacinths are in bloom now and the early tulips are starting to bloom
I received the newsletter from you about the flower update – week 13 but do not see your blog post on your website here. I could only read it from the newsletter email.
Wondering what’s your forecast about the full boom of tulips in Keukenhof? We’ll be there on May 1. 🙂
Thanks!
We are very busy with photographing all the flowers. The newsletter is the most up to date source of information. We are having an early to regular spring. If the tulips will still be in bloom depends on the weather and temperature in the next 4 weeks. We have very unpredictable Dutch weather so keep an eye to our newsletter.
Hi Nienke, we want to cycle from Wassenaar to see some tulip fields. Is this weekend too soon? (like, tomorrow!)
Thanks,
Lucille
No not too soon! The early red tulip field behind keukenhof ( next to the windmill) is already in bloom and you will see lots of colorful daffodils and hyacinth fields in bloom. Enjoy your bike ride!
