Picking tulips for a good cause
Picking tulips for a good cause is held every year at the end of March after the Tulip Trade Event is held in the Netherlands. Tulip exporters and tulip breeders show their full product range of tulip varieties to all their potential trading partners from all around the world.
Normally after an event like this all the tulips are discarded. Luckily there are companies like Nord Lommerse Bulb Company who don’t want to throw away these perfect tulips and host a tulip picking party for a very good cause the Hanukkah Mariette’s Child Care center in Ghana.
It is a busy event so when you are planning to visit this event in March 2019 make sure you are there around the opening time at 11AM. Over 200 new and luxurieus tulip varieties in all colors were available (over 36.000 tulips in total!).
With the raised money the center can provide food, clothes and education to the children in the center. I couldn’t stop picking tulips for this good cause, so my house looks and smells like a flower shop now. My house is filled with many vases full of colorful tulips. It is a lovely initiative and looking forward to the next event in 2019!
