Last weekend we had some extremely nice weather in the Netherlands. Lots of people travelled through the Bollenstreek to enjoy the flowers.
At this moment the yellow daffodils are in full bloom. Around the Keukenhof you can see fields full with yellow. Last Wednesday the first hyacinth field appeared, with a deep purple color and significant scent it was very beautiful driving along (sorry no camera with me at that time ) Today I saw at some points the early tulips are starting to form the flower so you can see a bit of color through the greens. It won’t take too long before these early tulips start to flower. I expect to see them in bloom at the end of this week.
Besides all these color there are still lots (lots!) of fields covered in green. So don’t panic if you are planning to travel at the end of April / beginning in May.
In the Keukenhof there are many new art pieces. The orca in the pond next to the indoor exhibition makes me smile every time I pass it. There are some new things for the children as well, there is a small playground in the theme of Nijntje / Miffy and the little animals farm has a couple of new animals (2 little pigs who likes to play football and 2 ponies). From the Keukenhof you can see the surrounding flower fields very well. Now it is a lot of yellow, but within a couple of weeks the hyacinths are starting to give their color as well.
And if you have any questions please let me know.
