Flower & Garden events
When the keukenhof is closed there are no tulips to be seen until next springtime. There are some other flower & garden events in the next month. Have a look:
– Visit the unique Japanse garden of The Hague – until Sunday 11th of June 2017
This garden is only open for 8 weeks per year (4 weeks in springtime and 4 weeks during autumn)

– Aalsmeer Flower festival – 17 and 18 June 2017
A lovely flower festival on different locations in the flower village of the Netherlands. Visit the rose exhibition at the historical garden of Aalsmeer, have a look at the windmill in the city center, see how the roses are grown at a rose nursery and boat around with the water taxi. One of my favorite flower festivals.

– Open garden days Amsterdam – 16, 17 and 18 June 2017
Have you ever wondered how the gardens behind all those beautiful canal houses must look like? During the Open garden Days about 30 gardens of private owners as well as public institutions will be open to the public, some of them for the first time.
The gardens behind the stately homes along the Amsterdam canals were used mainly to enjoy in wintertime, when the families resided in the city rather than at their summer estates.
During the Open Garden Days 2017 Garden aficionados will have a unique opportunity to stroll along the city’s green oases, formal parterres, flowering plants and remarkable garden houses and ornaments; both classical and contemporary gardens can be visited during this three day event.
The gardens will be open all three days from 10 am to 5 pm. The ticket is valid for all particpating gardens during the entire weekend. Have a look here for more information about these garden days.
– Rose festival Castle Arcen – 22 june until 27 june 2017
Situated in the south of Holland (almost 2 hrs by car from Amsterdam) you can find the Castle of Arcen with beautiful gardens. One of these gardens is the rose garden with 8,000 rose bushes in more than 100 different varieties, one of the largest in the Netherlands and definitely one of the most beautifully landscaped next to the castle. Many different activities around the theme of roses are held.
