Rembrandt and the Golden ages
Every year Dutch tourism society will pick a theme to promote The Netherlands that year. This year the theme is Rembrandt and the Golden ages. In 2019, it will be 350 years since he died and his life and heritage will be celebrated with exhibitions throughout The Netherlands. In different musea you will find exhibitions around this theme. If you are an art lover, make sure you visit one of these exhibitions this year:
- until 20 Jan – 80 Years’ War. The Birth of The Netherlands in Rijksmuseum Amsterdam;
- until 7 March – Rembrandt and Saskia: Love and Marriage in the Dutch Golden Age in Fries Museum Leeuwarden;
- until 7 April – Rembrandt Privé at Stadsarchief Amsterdam;
- until 26 May – A new perspective on art & Calvinism in Dordrechts Museum;
- from 31 Jan – 15 Sep – Rembrandt and the Mauritshuis in The Hague;
- from 1 Feb – 16 Feb – Three exhibitions at the Rembrandthuis in Amsterdam;
- from 15 Feb – 19 Jan – 350 Years of Rembrandt at the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam;
- from 11 Oct – 16 Feb 2020 – Pieter de Hooch, Delft Master of the Dutch Golden Age in Museum Prinsenhof in Delft;
- from 3 Nov – 9 Feb 2020 – Young Rembrandt in museum de Lakenhal Leiden.
