[/custom_frame_left] The official launch of the tulip season takes place on Saturday, January 19 at the Dam in Amsterdam. In a specially constructed tulip garden on the Dam, anyone can go flower picking for free. Last year, this garden was visited by over 10,000 passers and tourists. The tulip garden is open from 1:30pm until 6:00pm.
With this festive action the tulip season 2013 will be started. It is expected that more than 1.7 billion Dutch tulips will bring spring at homes worldwide. The preparations for the National Tulipday (in Dutch: Tulpendag) 2013 is at full swing, with some spectacular surprises and actions revealed from the beginning of January 2013. The time for tulips is during the period from January to April, when most tulip varieties are available from florists, supermarkets and flower stall. There are over a thousand species of tulips in all colors of the rainbow which worldwide find their way to the vases. The tulip is therefore a real showpiece of The Netherlands.
