Wow the Keukenhof looks wonderful at the moment. If you are doubting for the best time…. This week will be perfect for a visit. From today the temperature will go up to 20 degrees with lots of sunshine. So very lovely for a nice stroll around Keukenhof and the flower fields outside.
When you are in Keukenhof make sure you climb up the stairs of the windmill. You will have a wonderful look to the colorful flower fields outside. And for the people who don’t like to climb stairs there is a somewhat hidden lookout point next to the maze as well (steep hill)
This weekend it is orchids weekend and some nice models are walking around Keukenhof with those beautiful flowers and there is a gorgeous exhibition at the Beatrix Pavilion.
The indoor tulip exhibition has been removed and this weekend a group of artists are displaying their beautiful works.
Outside Keukenhof
You see many flower fields. Please don’t just drive on the N208 between Sassenheim and Lisse but make some detours on the small roads as well. Of you drive around the roads Zwartelaan, Loosterweg noord and Loosterweg zuid, Achterweg Zuid and Essenlaan. by bike or by car. And do ride around a little further in the area of Noordwijkerhout, Sassenheim, Voorhout, Lisse, de Zilk and Hillegom and you will find more flower fields.
When you are visiting the fields keep in mind that the flower fields are a commercial product and please enjoy the fields from a proper distance. Yes some people are walking into the fields not realizing that this can cause major damage to the bulbs (like in transferring viruses from underneath their shoes). And the fields are private property so you are in violation as well. So please respect fences and the do not enter signs. Just stay on the side and enjoy from there, don’t walk/bike into the fields and you will be fine.

Will it be worth to visit Keukenhof this week?
Yes and make sure you rent a bike (or walk around) the flower fields as well. It is an absolute plus on the Keukenhof experience. It is a perfect week for a visit to the flower fields. Don’t wait too long with a visit if your main goal is the flower fields first early tulip fields are headed already and some tulips fields are reaching their peak as well (and might be headed this week) However the field next to the Windmill wasn’t blooming on Saturday – so there will be some color in the fields for this week.
