It is the final week of spring season. Monday the 20th of May at the end of the afternoon the Keukenhof will close its gates. Until than the visitors can enjoy the park in bloom. There are a lot of tulips! It looks wonderful. Even the rhododendrons and the trees are blooming. If you are planning a visit, plan it at the beginning of your holiday. Don’t wait too long!
Outside Keukenhof
Outside on the flower fields the farmers are getting ready as well. This morning a lot of tulip fields were headed. There are still some fields in bloom, but they are near/over peak blooming. Just a couple of days and these fields will be gone as well.
If you are planning to do a bike ride this week make sure that there are some fields left. Look around when you arrive by bus, if you can’t see any fields than it might be too late for a bike ride. Have a look at the small tulip field just opposite of the Main Entrance of Keukenhof. If those are gone, than just stay inside Keukenhof.
Maybe it is possible to see some tulip fields in the top of north Holland or around Emmeloord (they have a delay of some days in blooming) but based on the status around Keukenhof you have to be very quick ☺ I am not sure about the current status of the flowers there and you definitely need a car to find the fields.
Traveling after May 20th?
For the people traveling after the 20th of May …. Sorry spring season is over. If you want to see flowers visit the flower market in Amsterdam, see the flower auction in Aalsmeer or book for spring season 2014. (last 2 weeks of April/ first week of May)
