Flower update – Week 16
After a lovely weekend waking up between the tulip fields at Landal Beach Resort Ooghduyne, (what a lovely place!) I am back home in preparation for a visit to Floralien in Gent (Belgium) and the flower parade this weekend.
We had a wonderful weekend between the flower fields in Julianadorp in the top of North Holland where you can find the largest area of flower fields in the Netherlands.
The weather is changing a lot. This morning it was freezing again and during the day the sun was shining bright accompanied with a strong cold breeze. Make sure you dress warm and bring your scarf (and a hat!) just to be sure during cold weather.
The tulips in the fields are getting more and more in bloom. It is a wonderful sight to see. The daffodils in the fields are slightly getting to and over peak blooming and the hyacinths in the fields are at their peak.
Keukenhof is starting to look gorgeous! Even the trees are getting into bloom. Make sure you visit the indoor flower exhibitions from the 21st -25th there is a lovely daffodil exhibition at the Oranje Nassau pavilion with beautiful daffodils from our friends of Dutch Daffodils!
What to expect for next weekend
And what to expect for this weekend …. Well the weekend of the 23rd will be the busiest weekend of spring. The flower parade draws lot of people towards the area. A visit to the area will turn into a full day visit due all the traffic jams. If you want to avoid the traffic jams make sure you visit Keukenhof on Friday the 22nd or on Monday the 25th.
If you want to see the flower parade as well you can see the evening parade in Noordwijkerhout. This is the same flower parade as the parade in Saturday but less known by tourists and less busy than on Saturday and Sunday (unless you all come visit at once)! The floats are lining up from the end of Friday afternoon in the town center and there are many activities in town. The white church has beautiful flower arrangements and in the streets you find music and street theater. Between 9.15 PM and 10 PM the parade will drive through town with music and lights. More information about the parade and more tips see our website.
Meet & Greet!
We will have our first Meet and Greet this season. I will be at the tourist information office of VVV Noordwijkerhout on Friday the 22nd of April. From 3 PM until 20 PM you can find me at Dorpsstraat 8 in Noordwijkerhout. Many activities are held during the afternoon and evening before the parade. Just come over to say hi, love to chat with you all. You can recognize me with my light blue jacket with Tulips in Holland logo.
Other activities this week
This week we are also visiting the beautiful flower & plant show Floralien in Gent (Belgium) and the Floralia Castle of Groot Bijgaarden in Brussels. We have another week full with flower activities. Read more on our blog from next week. At this moment we are having peak season, so apologies if we are not responding as bit slowly. We will catch up later next week.
Enjoy your week! Hope to meet you all on Friday at the tourist information office of Noordwijkerhout!
Kind regards from Tulips in Holland,
Nienke
Hi Nienke, I will be in Haarlem 6th of May. Planning to take a bycicle route to see tullips in the fields. Do you think there be any left in the fields then?
