Weekly flower update week 11 2017
Thank you all for all the positieve reactions on the newsletter of last week! Within 1,5 weeks the Keukenhof will open its doors and spring can officially start. Have a look below for the latest information …
Current status of the flowers
First crocus field in bloom! Today I found the first crocus field in bloom. Unfortunately it was when driving on the highway A44. For every one riding on the train between Amsterdam and Leiden keep your camera ready after the Sassenheim station. On the left side (towards Leiden) you will see a perfect purple crocus field in bloom. On Facebook and Twitter I’ve shared a couple of posts of the greens of the daffodils. They are growing steady with this lovely spring like weather. Hopefully we can share the first daffodil field in bloom before Keukenhof opens on the 23rd of March. I am looking forward to the indoor tulip festival at Keukenhof during the first weekend. Anyone visiting on opening weekend?

Tickets and Tours for 2017
Are you dreaming about the flower fields? Some of us really do. (me included 🙂 ) This year you have the opportunity to visit the flower fields (and the bulb farm) at two different tours. The Keukenhof and Flower fields tour will take you to a bulb farm close to Keukenhof. And the Tulipfield Helicopter Experience Day tour will take you to a large bulb farm in top of North Holland (the area with the largest flower fields). Both farms are family run farms and you will learn a lot about the bulb planting and growing proces. Both have a lot of photo opportunities and you get real close to the flowers. The helicopter experience tour will take you to the largest Mondriaan tulip field close to the heli platform. You will see this field both from the ground and from up in the air. Are you interested in other tours? Have a look on our tickets and tours page.
Tulips from The Hague
Have you ever seen over 150 different kind of tulips together in one flower shop? National Tulip Day on the third Saturday of January in Amsterdam, marks the start of all kinds of tulip related events from the Lente Flora in Lisse and the Lentetuin in Breezand. Last weekend (10,11 and 12 March) was Tulip weekend at a local flower shop (Snijders Bloemen) in The Hague. And yes all the 150 different kind of tulips were for sale. For three days they have the largest tulip selection I have seen outside of the flower auction. I was like a kid in a candy shop, which tulips should I choose? I ended up with double tulips, parrot tulips and fringed tulips and I mixed it at home with some other tulips I had already. My home looks (and smells!) like a small flower shop. This year it was the forth year of this tulip weekend so I am looking forward to next year for the fifth edition!
