Weekly flower update – 25 april 2017

It is much colder than the beginning of this month with lots of rain and that is a good thing for the duration of the blooming of the flowers. For the upcoming week the forecast is wet and cold. Make sure you pack waterproof clothes and a scarf. You will need it. The long term forecast is getting better but our weather prediction is only accurate a couple of days ahead.

We are having peak blooming now. The tulip fields are in full bloom and the first fields with early tulips has been headed. It is always a sad moment to announce. I expect to see fields in bloom for about a week and after that the fields are getting less and less. Due to the cold weather we are lucky that we could enjoy them slightly longer. The daffodils in the fields and the hyacinths in the fields are getting less every day now. The colors fade away every day now.

The Keukenhof is looking gorgeous at the moment. Lots of different flowers in bloom and everywhere you look you can see something beautiful. Make sure you visit the indoor flower exhibitions, especially the orchids show is one of my favorites. The upcoming days it is Dutch Design week with innovation exhibition and the live presentations given by designers, innovative designers and architects.

The other tulip festivals in the Netherlands, like the area of the Noordoostpolder and the top of North Holland are looking beautiful too. The long fields full of flowers are in bloom at the moment. The top of North Holland is celebration the flower days with flower mosaics and nicely decorated streets in the upcoming weekend. Have a look for more information.
